My husband has other Levis 501′s and these new ones are different in the weight of fabric ( light), fit(tighter in the leg and crotch) and color of stiching(white). Also the rivits and buttons are white instead of metal color. They also shrank when washed in cold water and line dried. Are these real Levis 501′s or knock off’s ?They are made in Mexico, his older ones are made in Colombia and are regular heavy fabric Levi 501 work pants. We are not happy with these pants but have already washed and used them. We would never order them again.

While much of the negative commentary concerned Levi Strauss’s move away from domestic manufacturing has focused on the button-fly 501s, the bigger problem I have seen is with the old 1970′s standby, the 505, which has a zipper as opposed to button fly. The variability on sizing and sew quality with the 505s is an issue if you are going to buy them online or mail order. You really have to try them on to see how they fit. The 501 are much easier to buy online or by mail order because the sizing is much less critical on the waist, which is the so-called “anti-fit” waist, meaning there is no curve to the rise (the distance between the crotch and the top of the waist), because the original 501s were merely cut down bib overalls which were made to hang, rather than be fitted to the waist. The biggest problem I have noted on the 505′s is the variability in size in the thigh area, meaning that some fit baggy and some seem rather tight, even though they are theoretically the same size of a label. Since the 501s are more forgiving as far as sizing, if you are buying online you might consider them instead of 505s, unless you don’t want the button fly.

I have been wearing Levi’s 501 since I was 16 – which means that for 22 years I keep returning to the classic, and it always fits just right.

This is the first time I am ordering my jeans through Amazon – I am not a big fan of ordering cloths remotely without trying it on, but I thought what the hey, how can I go wrong with the classic 501. And indeed I got it just right, same old great blue jeans: enter levi’s into the e-commerge age.

Bottom line – as great as ever, and now online.

Real 501′s are made of 14 oz canvas-like material. These “Iconic Rigid” jeans are made of some sleazy, much lighter material that takes on a carefully contrived set of wrinkles to make them look like they’d been worn to bed soaking wet and dried out overnight. If you want real 501′s stay away from these. I sent mine back right away.

I bought a pair of these jeans from this seller a few weeks ago and am extremely happy. First off they are the only ones that offer some of the more rare finishes for this particular jean. For example the iconic rigid and new metal colors are extremely hard to find and they look extremely great. I picked a pair of both of these colors and got them for a great deal. And fast shipping too! These jeans are a must have for any classic levis 501 fan.

I love it! I’ll never buy pants on normal stores ever again! For now on, I’ll buy my Levis Jeans here! The size fits me perfect, I have the chance to pick the color I want, and I don’t need to leave my seat! Oh, and did I say I paid almost half of what this jeans costs here in Costa Rica? Couldn’t be any happier!

This Is the second pair I bought In a week. The first pair looks so good and fits so very good. Like the other reviewer said “You can’t beat the fit of Levi’s 501 original preshrunk Jeans. The really great part Is they don’t sag In the bottom or have huge space everywhere. They fit nice.

AND My best part and why I bought 2 Is because they have this great color called “Grit” right now that Is BETTER than white for dress.

These are so dressy without being totally white I wish this color was available all the time.

So even prewashed the fit Is accurate NOT snug. They fit and feel great.

The one thing Levi’s did I wish they put back Is they only use 5 belt loops now and they used to have 7.

That aside I can’t be happier finding the 501′s and not just the 505′s which are more common.

AND THE PRICE!!! $35 total for a pair of nice button Levi’s? Like a few years back In time.

They don’t shrink any more In the wash. No more than any Jeans and they stretch perfect after 5 minutes of wearing. Right back to fitting perfect.

Jeans Is not my usual review but this color so nice If can get them. Also you can get them In 2 other colors available from Amazon In this exact pair. A dark blue and a light Blue. Most sizes still available and eligable for Amazon Prime.

Anyone who thinks these are original 501′s obviously never owned a pair of original 501′s. The denim is an inferior grade and the quality control sucks – both pairs I ordered arrived with twisted leg seams. They are also “pre-stressed” i.e. artificially faded. I’ve worn 501′s continually since the 60′s – these are a total ripoff.

there is nothing like the fit of 501 jeans, just be sure if they are preshrunk or not I now own 5 pair and will be getting more I love the fit.
